Alpacas need good hay, good water and good minerals. They also benefit from a small amount of feed. So many people mix products
from different suppliers. They get pellets from one place, minerals from another, then add extra nutrients for fiber, pregnancy,
this and that, and still worry that they are not doing the right thing for their animals.
Our philosophy is first of all to keep the alpacas on a pasture with mixed grasses, herbs etc. We do not believe that
the right approach is to kill everything in a pasture, then plant one kind of grass only.
When buying hay, we find the best hay possible. This means grass hay, primarily orchard grass, with no or very little
alfalfa, 2nd or 3rd cutting, as soft and green as possible. We also try to find hay that is as natural as possible and has
not been grown with chemical fertilizers or artificially dried with salt etc.
